Raymond Cook Obituary

COOK, Raymond Dillard

Raymond Dillard Cook died peacefully August 31, 2021. He was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended Pace Academy, Tennessee Military Institute, and Dykes High School where he graduated in 1970. He then attended Oglethorpe University where he graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order.

He did many things following his graduation from college but eventually began a commercial landscaping business which he operated for many years. He loved to fish and to scuba dive and to cook and spent many happy times with friends at St. George Island, Florida.

Dillard is remembered as an irreverent, funny, free spirit who loved and was loved by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents Dr. Arthur John Cook and Deaver Hamrick Cook. He is survived by his sister Deaver Cook Neal (Watt), his brother, Dr. Arthur John Cook, Jr. (Triff), his nephews William Charles Nigut III (Caroline) and Arthur John Cook III and his nieces Emily Cook McConnell (Alex) and Louise Cook Morgan (Gus).

There will be a graveside service at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September, 5, 2021 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cartersville, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Dillard may be made to Northside Methodist Church in Atlanta Georgia or to the Humane Society of Forsyth County.
