Raymond Maul Obituary

Raymond Jacob Maul

February 6, 1943 - November 21, 2024

Fresno, California - It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Raymond, our beloved husband, brother, father and grandfather. After many years, he lost his courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Raymond was born and lived his whole life in the Fresno area. He learned his love of farming from working on the family ranch. Raymond had a successful career in the fertilizer industry, first with Occidental Chemical and then as the founder of two agriculture retail businesses, Helm Fertilizer and Kerman Ag Resources.

Raymond was a generous and deeply caring person who supported his community. He served as board member and president of the California Fertilizer Association, receiving the prestigious Harry J. Larsen Integrity Award in 1999. He was a board member and president of Agriculture Retailers Association, a national organization, and Ag In The Classroom. He was also a founding member of Independent Agribusiness Professionals. With his wife Mary Helen, Raymond created a permanent scholarship fund for Agricultural Studies at Fresno State University, open to students graduating from Fowler High School, his alma mater.

Raymond loved Fresno State sports and never missed a San Francisco 49ers football game. He also loved to travel, and with Mary Helen by his side, visited six of the seven continents. It was not unusual for Raymond to unexpectedly run into someone he knew anywhere in the world. Everyone did love Raymond. Life will not be as bright without him.

Donations in Raymond's honor may be made to The Parkinson's Foundation. A celebration of life memorial service is planned for February 6, 2025, on what would have been Raymond's 82nd birthday. Please contact the family for more information.
