Dad just want to say "Happy Fathers Day" and I miss you. Your Loving Son Ray Jr.

Donna

We've never met, but Ray was my personal hero for many years.

He and I worked elbow to elbow in a tiny office at Bandringa & Assoc. for many years.

Throughout the 70's we were buddies. He made me laugh and helped me through the day. Whenever, one guy was ready to quit, the other would ask him what else he planned to do ? Eventually we both laughed and went back to work.

We went camping with our young sons and froze our butts off in a tent somewhere in Southern Illinois.

I remember when he met you at the bank where CRS had it's offices. He was nuts about you from the time he saw you.

I awoke from my nap today and realized I had been dreaming of the good times at Bandringas. I hadn't thought of Ray (Jim Raymond)for years, so on a whim I Googled his name.

I shed a tear for Ray when I read his obituary. He was a good man.

Dear Donna, Alaina and family,

I was so sorry to hear about Ray's passing. He was so kind and loving to Raquel. I always felt comfortable knowing my daughter was in good hands when she went to WI with Donna, Ray and Alaina.
He made the world a better place.

Although I am unable to attend 'brother' Ray's funeral service today, my heart and mind are with the Smilgius family and friends. Even in high school I knew Ray to be a genuinely good natured guy, with deep integrity and a real leader among men. He's always had my deepest respect. Rest in peace, Ray. I look to the day when we'll all be together on the 'other side,' and rejoin our mutually enjoyable conversations.

Again, with deepest sympathies to the family,

Mr. Ray as we called him in this office will be sorley missed. We were the most unpolitically correct office we knew of and proud of it. He was a friend and mentor and a fine christian example.

Ray knew we are big hockey fans and always asked "do you think they can win the cup this year, eh? in his finest Canadian. Yep, Ray they did. Hope you led the Heavenly celebration for the Blackhawk this year.

I will miss you my friend. To his family please accept my/our seepest sympathies. We will keep you in our prayers.

My Uncle Ray was the best uncle that a girl could have. Someone who loved me and supported me like a father, but who was also a good friend. He is part of my earliest childhood memories. I remember how special he made me feel when I was a little girl when he took me, only me, not my brothers, for ice-cream. I loved spending time with him. His kind, caring eyes, his illuminating smile, his scratchy voice, his contagious exuberance, and his warm heart will forever be with me, embedded in my heart. There is a special place in heaven for a man like Ray, and I hope it is with his sister Marion, my mom.

I didn't have the pleasure of getting to see you all that often but the few times I did you always struck me as such a wonderful man with tremendous depth and joy in him. You always seemed so happy and interested in others and their lives. You will be greatly missed Ray. I know that God has a special place in heaven for you.

As an uncle to me you were always a man of strength, courage and determination.

You helped my mom and dad put our family back together in our desperate time of need.

I will always cherish your " Hello Carlos " greetings.

Just as when your family came to our house and the kids put their fishing rods in our back yard pond and your kids could not believe that they caught over a 100 fish, ( really several fish were caught multiple times) you are now on a journey to return to Gods grand pond.
