Raymond R. Vlieger

Raymond R. Vlieger of Des Plaines Funeral services for Raymond R. Vlieger, 80, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Des Plaines. Born Oct. 23, 1921, he died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at Northwest Community Healthcare in Arlington Heights. Interment will be in Mount Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst. Mr. Vlieger had worked for the Edward Hines Lumber Company for more than 40 years. A veteran serving in the 95th Infantry Division, he was a member and president of that organization and a member of VFW Post #3579. He was also an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was the beloved husband of Lucille (nee Boergener) and the late Ruth (nee Stoltenberg); loving father of Roger (Kathleen) Vlieger, Keith (Judith) Wolter, Virginia (Timothy) Wright and the late Linda (William) Matson; proud grandfather of W. Thomas, Philip, Ross, Caroline, Martha, Jessica and Kevin; and great-grandfather of Autumn. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, at Oehler Funeral Home, 555 Lee St., Des Plaines, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday, at the church.
