Carmichael, California - Richard Blake Benton II was born in San Jose, CA to Richard Blake Benton (Deceased) and Dorothy Westfall (Deceased) on June 4, 1953. A 4-year Army Veteran, stationed at Fort Ord, in Salinas, CA from 1974-1978. A Resident of Citrus Heights for 40 years, retired Teamster of Crystal Milk Company for 27 years, small business co-owner of a bar in Citrus Heights called The Blue Moon.
Father to his only son, Carl Blake Benton, of Kansas. Known to his grandchildren, Christopher and Steven Benton and great granddaughter Vanna Benton, all of Kansas, as "Papa". Husband to Maria L. Benton for 22 years (deceased) and husband to Diane Benton for 19 yrs, together for 27 yrs (current). Youngest brother to Cheryl Perkins of Washington and Donna Bryan of Mississippi.
He was known for his humor and all around positive attitude. Rick was an avid golfer, fisherman and globetrotter. He loved nature and being in the Mountains. He studied Forestry at Sierra Community College, because he wanted to be a Forest Ranger, until the Army came calling. Always fun to be around and listen to his many stories. A member of Astrological Association, he also loved to star-gaze in the desert or up in the mountains, when time permitted.
No services are planned at this time, but a celebration of his life, will be arranged at a later date by his son.
