Richard Porter Lange

Greenville

Richard Porter Lange, 92, of Greenville, SC died Friday, June 23, 2017 at his home.

He was the son of the late H.F.A. Lange and Eulalee T. Lange of Greenville.

A 1947 graduate of Clemson University, he was Vice President and a director of Rosco Supply, Inc. before his retirement in 1980.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the 99th Division during the Rhineland Campaign and the Battle of the Bulge and received the Bronze Star Medal, the Combat Infantry Award, two Bronze Battle Stars, and the Fourragere, a decoration awarded by the Belgium Government.

He was a founder of St. Matthews Episcopal Church of Spartanburg and served that church as Senior Warden. He also served St. James Episcopal Church of Greenville as Junior and Senior Warden. He was a member of the Cherokee Lake Boating and Fishing Club and of the American Legion. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth "Beth" Lancianese in 1993, and a sister, Virginia Groome of Hampton Roads, VA.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Sarah Flack Lange; two sons, Richard P. Lange, Jr. of Greenville and Frederick Clark Lange of Myrtle Beach, SC; and two grandchildren, Virginia Elizabeth Lancianese of Asheville, NC and Frederick Albert Lange of Wilmington, NC.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 12pm to 12:45pm at The Mackey Mortuary with a funeral service following at 1pm in the Chapel. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lutheran Hospice of Greenville.

I am sorry for your loss. I worked with Mr. Lange at Rosco Supply, Inc. until his retirement. I always found him to be a gentleman and enjoyed working with him in the bookkeeping Department at Rosco Supply.

Hope you will let God comfort you in this time of your loss. God bless you all during your time of sorrow.
