Richard “Dick” T. O’Brien of Port St. Lucie, FL, 85, passed away on January 24, 2025 at Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital.
Dick was born in Roxbury, MA on September 14, 1939 and was the son of the late Everett and Mary Elizabeth O’Brien. Dick graduated from Boston College and earned an MBA from Boston University. He proudly served over 20 years in the United States Army and was awarded numerous medals including the Bronze Star Medal and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. After serving in the Army, he spent his remaining working years as a Managing Director at the Law firm of Robinson + Cole in Hartford, CT before retiring and relocating to Port Saint Lucie, FL.
During his time living in New England, Dick had a passion for fishing in Salmon Brook in Granby, CT and on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. His passion was redirected to golf when he relocated from CT to FL. Bad weather was the only thing that kept him from golfing with his golf buddies every day.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Kathryn “Katie” O’Brien, beloved children, Daughter, Kathy O’Brien-Bain and her husband Eric Bain of Stafford Springs, CT, Son – Rich O’Brien and his wife Beth of Davie, FL. He will be greatly missed by his Grandchildren – Chase and Paige O’Brien and Eian Bain and Taylor (Bain) Martinsen.
Dick was preceded in passing by his Brother, Willam “Bill” O’Brien and Sister, Marie Pare.
Family will hold a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am on Tuesday, January 28th, 2025 at St Bernadette Catholic Church 350 NW California Blvd Port St. Lucie, FL 34986.
In lieu of flowers, donations to American Heart Association would be greatly appreciated.
