Richard York Obituary
Born in Providence, he was a long time resident of Fall River. A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, he continued his education at Episcopal Theological School and completed his education, receiving his PHD in Phycology from Boston University. He went on to a fulfilling career as a Phycologist for many years.
Richard enjoyed his time attending many theater performances, and biking. He was a proud member of the LGBT Community.
He is survived by his siblings, Rebecca Mangus and her husband Richard of Hudson, MA and Nicholas Waterman and his wife Eleanor of Scituate, MA; one niece, Jennifer Alden; and two nephews, Dereck and Christopher Mangus.
A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 11:00 AM in Grace Church, 300 Westminster St, Providence. Relatives and friends invited. Burial will follow in Warren South Cemetery, 39 Sowamsett Ave, Warren. Visitation will be held prior to the Funeral Service from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM in Grace Church. Contribution in Richard's Honor may be made to Boston University Alzheimer's Research, payable to Trustees of Boston University, Chobanian Avedisian School of Medicine, attn: Kaleb Battan, 72 E. Concord B7800, Boston, MA 02118. To celebrate Richard, the family asks that guests wear colorful attire. For tributes or directions, www.waring-sullivan.com

I knew Richard from Saint Mary's Church on Broadway in Providence. He was always a gentleman and he made me feel at home in the Church since I was a relatively new parishioner. He had the spirit of Shepherding and for that I will always be grateful I got to know him Take care my friend and someday we will re-unite!!

I enjoyed getting to know Richard through Grace Church in Providence, RI, these last few years and especially enjoyed lunches with him. He was an intelligent, accomplished, and interesting man with a good sense of humor and a great perspective. My deepest condolences to his family.
