Robert Spotak Obituary

Robert Joseph Spotak, 78, of Arlington Heights, IL passed away peacefully on Friday, May 19, 2023. He was born on April 22, 1945 in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Dorothy (née Geary) Spotak. Bob married the love of his life, Carol Del Bianco on July 29, 1967 in Chicago, IL.

Bob was the beloved husband of Carol nee Del Bianco. Proud father of Michael (Jennifer) Spotak, the late Stephen Spotak, daughter-in-law Kelly Spotak and Brian Spotak. Cherished grandfather of Clare, Emma, Elyse, Lily, Matthew and Mia. Loving brother of Pauline Toebes. Adored uncle and treasured friend to many.

Bob was a talented runner. He ran track at St. Mel's high school where he competed as a hurdler. Bob went on to obtain his undergraduate degree at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, TN where he studied accounting. He obtained his MBA from DePaul University. Bob then worked at BP Amoco as a corporate tax accountant and consultant for over 35 years and enjoyed teaching accounting at Harper College. In his retirement he enjoyed cooking, gardening, and fixing just about anything he could get his hands on. He spent time with his large group of cherished friends and enjoyed playing the "incredibly frustrating" as he called it, game of golf. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family and his grandchildren. He was a simple man who was simply the best. He will be dearly missed.

Bob was an important student athlete that ran on the great St. Mel High School Cross Country and Track & Field Teams of 1961-1962. He will be missed but we will always remember him when we tell our tales of athletics at St Mile High School. May he rest in peace.

I´m sorry to hear about Bob´s passing. I went to college, CBC, with Bob. I lived next door to him at the dorm in 1963/1964

I worked with Bob way back in the Amoco days and must share with you that he always had a smile on his face. He was funny and kind and helpful - truly one of the nicest co-workers I´ve had the pleasure to work with. Nothing but good and positive memories of Bob.

I was very sorry to learn that Bob has passed away. My brother Kevin and myself ran on the St. Mel Track & Field Team with Bob. I was a year older. We had a really good team in 1962 and Bob was a big part of that teach coached by legendary Coach Dean Hayes. I was looking forward to seeing bob at our St. Mel Reunion on June 2nd. Sending condolences and prayers to his family. May he rest in peace!
