Robert Thompson Obituary
Robert, a loving father, is survived by his daughter, Judy Ann Pitts and husband Keith (deceased), Gadsden; and sons, James William Thompson and wife Mary Jo, Tuscaloosa, Larry Raymond Thompson and wife Elaine, Gadsden.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Elizabeth "Liz" Thompson.
Robert was the son of the late John and Claudia Nix Thompson, and had five brothers, Howard, Hobson, Raymond (Slats), Bud and Ivan (Foots); and two half-sisters, Dovie Harris and Adena Pate.
Robert had five grandchildren, Teresa McDowell and husband Bill, Montgomery, Traci Howard and husband Jonathan, Glencoe, Joana Thompson, Gadsden, Maridi Thompson, Tuscaloosa, and Cole Thompson, Tuscaloosa. Robert had three great-grandchildren, Ashley Rhoades and husband Chad, Montgomery, Anna Rose Countryman and Carson McCreless; as well as two great-great- grandchildren Caleb and Joey Rhodes; and a number of nieces and nephews. Other surviving family members include sisters-in-law, Janette Thompson, Atlanta, Ga., and Janette Thompson, Gadsden.
Collier-Butler Funeral Home will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Graveside services to follow at Forrest Cemetery at 1 p.m. Bro. Billy York will preside over the services. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the church of your choice in Robert Thompson's honor.
Pallbearers include Terry Harris, Steve Means, Ronnie Reed, Bill McDowell, Johnathan Howard and Cole Thompson. Honorary pallbearer will be Jake Amos.
