Robyn Suciu Obituary

Robyn Lee (Watkins) Suciu

June 14, 1951 - February 5, 2025

Robyn was born on June 14, 1951 in Phoenix, Arizona to Grady and Audrey Watkins. She grew up in her home state, attending schools in Goodyear, Scottsdale and Yuma. Robyn graduated from Yuma High School in 1969 and was active in school activities. She was on the girls tennis team and played clarinet and flute- and was a majorette - in the Crim 's Marching Band. She was also active in 4-H and competed with projects in clothing, foods, and market steers.

Robyn's higher education journey began at Arizona Western College, then after a break, she continued with Northern Arizona University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree.

The banking industry is where Robyn began her professional career; she held several positions over many years. She then took her business experience to Gowan & Co where she worked with agricultural clients in various capacities.

Robyn married Larry Suciu, the love of her life, in 1985. They had several shared interests including travel, vintage cars, old movies, motorcycles, golf, and cats. Both had pilot licenses and received training and certification for scuba diving. One of their most incredible dives was in the Truk Islands, searching the sunken ships from World War II.

Robyn was active in the Yuma community. Her passion to assist women led to her involvement with CASA de Yuma. She was one of the first volunteers and later served on the Board of Directors. Wanting to continue with her music, Robyn performed in a community orchestra. She also competed in local sports activities including tennis, racket ball and softball. Robyn had a soft heart for cats and they knew it; stray cats somehow found her and when they did, they also found a loving home.

Robyn battled cancer for over a year. She died peacefully on February 5, 2025. Her husband, Larry, passed away just two months earlier.

Robyn is survived by her brother Kelly Watkins (Tina); her sister Maryann Watkins; brother-in-law Tom Suciu (Geralyn); nephews and nieces Callan, Clay, Courtney (Eric), Scott, Kim and Rhett and grand-nieces Kerby and Claire. She will be greatly missed.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 1:30 pm at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 1415 S. 1st Ave, Yuma. In lieu of flowers, please honor Robyn with a donation to Humane Society of Yuma, Hospice of Yuma or the Hansen House.

Oh sweet Robyn, I just learned of your passing. We played a lot of tennis in the 70´s & 80´s. The best memories I have of you being our tennis coach at AWC. Our out of town trips were epic for sure. Thank you for all your words of wisdom and love. I´ll never forget you precious friend.

To my wonderful and beautiful forever friend Robyn. I will miss visiting with you when I come to Yuma. We shared a lot of special times while growing up on the tennis courts at Yuma High School. You were an amazing athlete. So happy that you found the love of your life with Larry. Thank you for being my friend, coming to Hawaii for my wedding, and especially for coming to my Moms Celebration of Life. That meant a lot to me. You are forever in my heart. A Hui Hou (Until we meet again)

I always looked forward to seeing my Aunt Robyn. She had a huge heart and was always very generous. I have many fond memories of her: riding around in her Stingray Corvette; playing raquetball with her; climbing onto her roof to save one of her cats; her Christmas stockings; the cards she sent for every single holiday; and her love for the entire family, especially Larry. My heart is heavy, and she will be dearly missed. RIP Auntie Robyn. I love you.

I had the privilege of taking care of Robyns' hair for many years, we shared the silly love of flamingos and the humorous collectables we'd find. We also would go on about our cats antics & the joy they brought us. She spoke lovingly about her extended family, know she & Larry will be horribly missed, may you both rest in peace.

I remember Robyn from Yuma High Marching Band. as I played clarinet when Robyn was there. She was always quiet and very nice. My heartfelt sympathy to her sister, MaryAnn and her family. God bless and hold Robyn´s family and loved ones close at this difficult time.
