Rosa García Testa

Pepita died on September 16, 2025, a few weeks short of her 99th birthday. She was born in San José, Uruguay, the daughter of Rosa Salomón and José García. She married Santiago Testa in Montevideo on November 13, 1948. They arrived in the US in 1961 when he was offered a job at the Inter-American Development Bank.

Pepita was active in the IDB's "Godmother's Group," which provided assistance to newcomers, helping them get acclimated to the US. She enjoyed hosting family and friends. She also enjoyed knitting and crafts. In the 1990s, she took up oil painting, leaving behind a trove of lovely paintings.

She is survived by her children, Graciela Testa (Christopher Lynt), Santiago Testa (Kathy Halverson), and Anselmo Testa (Julie Spurr); her grandchildren, Bibiana Ortiz-Levine (Brian Levine), Andrea Ortiz (Erin Gabor), Monica Testa (Ian Sotzing), Claudia Testa (Logan Wilhelm); and step-grandchildren, Greta Lynt (Jason Bevil) and Ingrid Lynt St. Clair. Her step-grandson, Jamie Lynt, died recently in a tragic accident. She also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren.
