ROY WHITESIDE

Roy L. Whiteside went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 30, 2014. Roy was born in Pilot Point, Texas on January 6, 1928. Roy married the love of his life, Beatrice Whiteside with whom he shared 42 years until her passing in 1993. Several years later, he was blessed enough to find love again and married his second wife Janis Whiteside. Roy and Janis spent 18 blessed years together. Roy had a very diversified life. Roy honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. He owned Pearl Beer Distributing Company. He dealt with buying and selling of real estates and he organized many trail rides for the Sun Country Trailrides and showed horses. Roy was preceded in death by his beloved first wife Bea and his sister, Wanda Carter. He is survived by his loving wife, Janis; his cherished pets, Nash, Little Bit, Snickers and Alley; his three step sons, Boyd Mendenhall and wife Callie, Leon and Gene Garrett; his step daughter Shonah Lozano and husband Freddie, his Godson, Cole Gearhart; his nephew, David Pearson and wife Catherine; his nieces, Terri Graham and Sherri Porter, husband Kenneth; plus several great nephews and nieces. Roy is also survived by two special girls whom he considered his "little angels" Kylie Mosley and Leilani Rosales. Though Roy had no children of his own, he was an Uncle to all, family and friends alike. Everyone loved "Uncle Roy" or "everyone's John Wayne" as many of his friends would say. Roy was truly loved and will be missed by all that knew him. Special thank you to Gentiva Hospice for all of their care and support. Visitation and Celebration of Roy's life will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 Carolina. Funeral Service will be Monday, May 5, 2014 at 9 a.m. at Cielo Vista Church, 3585 N. Lee Trevino. Rite of Committal will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
