Ruth DAVIS Obituary

November 20, 1927 - May 1, 2025

Ruth Shirley Davis, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on May 1, 2025, at the age of 97. Born November 20, 1927, in Winchester, Massachusetts to William H. Wells and Nellie Wanamaker. Ruth grew up in Wakefield, Massachusetts in a three-story home her grandfather built for the family. She loved the outdoors, including snow skiing on long wooden skis and gardening. Ruth especially loved her flowers she tenderly cared for throughout the spring and summer. She often sat on her deck for hours, enjoying their beauty, in the fresh air.

Ruth married Robert "Bob" L. Davis January 1, 1948, in Wakefield, Massachusetts. Their honeymoon was moving to Rockford, WA, to his hometown. Ruth went from a young lady, living in a traditional suburb neighborhood, to "out west farm life". She frequently told us the story that God told her she would marry a farmer from out west. Indeed, she did! He preceded her in death after 57 years of marriage. Their son, Ray, also preceded her in death from Muscular Dystrophy, at the age of 20. They raised three sons, Gary (Debbie), Ray, and Bill (Jo). She adored her 5 grandchildren, Jenna, Brian, Stacie, Alex, and Eric, who gifted her with 16 great grandchildren. Ruth is survived by her 3 brothers, David Wells, Findlay, Ohio, Steven Wells, Wakefield, Massachusetts, and Richard Wells, Wakefield, Massachusetts.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, May 23, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines, Spokane Valley, WA, 99206, with a viewing prior to the service 11:00am - 1:00pm.
