Ruth York Obituary

CHARLOTTE - Ruth Harwood York, 86, passed away Oct. 14, 2014.

She was born in Mecklenburg County, daughter of the late Garrett Homer and Kate McGillard Har-wood. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Brooks York, a son, Robert Brooks York Jr. and a grandson Robert Thomas York. She was a lifetime member of Cook's Memorial Presbyterian Church. She was the owner/operator of Harwood Lakes.

She is survived by three sons, Ronald Dean York and wife Patricia of Charlotte, Warren Eugene York and wife Debbie of Charlotte, and Daryl Lee York and wife Vanessa of Denver; one brother, Garrett Homer Harwood Jr. and one sister, Katherine Parrott; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mrs. York will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Forest Lawn West Cemetery in Charlotte with the Rev. Stan York officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County, 900 Dontia Drive, Lin-colnton, NC 28092.

Ms. York will be missed at Mandy's and Matthews house on Christmas mornings. Always enjoyed seeing her there. Such a sweet Lady!!
