Sally GREEN Obituary

GREEN, Sally Sally Prock Green, MD Sally Prock Green, MD, 58, of Atlanta, GA passed away peacefully at her home on the evening of June 28, 2015. She is survived by her husband, Ted Green, her son, Daniel Rice (Lauren Schneidewind), her daughter Mary Lea Walston (Casey), her brother George Prock Jr. (Mary Jo), her granddaughters Caroline Walston and Ella Rice, as well as many nieces and nephews. Her parents George and Edith Prock and her sister Mary Jane Mobley preceded her in death. Sally was born on September 2, 1956 in Buckner, MO. After graduation from Fort Osage High School, she attended the University of Missouri Kansas City where she earned her Doctor of Medicine. She then moved to Atlanta, GA where she completed her residency in anesthesia at Emory University and enjoyed a long career at DeKalb Medical. In 1990, Sally, her husband, and sister founded Sterling Institutional Review Board (IRB), which is dedicated to the safety and welfare of medical research patients. After retiring in 2008, Sally followed her passion for mission work and travel. This calling took her all over the globe, to places such as as Nigeria, Ecuador, Honduras, and the Philippines. Her work in the Philippines through the Philippine Medical Society and the Philippine Nurses Association of Greater Kansas City was especially important to her. She also supported Habitat for Humanity International and participated in a number of missions to El Salvador, Hungary, and Portugal. In addition to her mission work, Sally was able to accomplish her lifelong goal of traveling to all 7 continents. Between missions, she was an active member of St. James United Methodist Church. Sally was also a member of the Chi Omega Fraternity and became very involved in the Atlanta Chi Omega Alumnae Association as a Chi Omega Foundation Advisor. Throughout her life Sally touched, healed, influenced, and changed so many lives for the better. She will be deeply missed. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 11am at St. James United Methodist Church. 4400 Peachtree Dunwoody Road, Atlanta, GA 30342. I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I was a sorority sister at UMKC and always admired her intelligence, wit, smile and graciousness. She was truly a remarkable young lady and led such a wonderful life that obviously touched so many. My condolences to her husband, children, family and friends.

I was honored to know Sally and was especially honored to hire her to be a member of DeKalb Anesthesia Associates in 1988. My wife Dee was also honored to serve on Sally and Ted's Sterling IRB Board. Sally was an extremely competent anesthesiologist and a wonderful and compassionate lady with a kind heart and a smile that could light up any room. Thank you, Sally, for being our friend and for all that you did for all of us. We loved you and we will never forget you!

I am so shocked to learn of Sally's passing. I was one of her Chi Omega sisters here in Kansas City. I have such fond memories of Sally during our college years, mostly her bright smile and sense of style. And I will always remember the yellow Carmen Ghia she drove.

My condolences to her husband, children & family. I am so sorry for your loss. RIP.

I am saddened to hear of Sally's passing. She was always a great friend. I cherished and looked forward to our Christmas cards telling each other of what was going on and how our families were growing even though the miles separated us. She was a treasured friend and I will miss that wit of hers. Prayers for your family as you move on.

I am very sad to learn of Sally's death, even though my most recent visit in December showed that her illness had become much more difficult to handle. I am grateful that you have so many wonderful memories of your travels and years together to sustain you at this time. Your annual Chi Omega party was a highlight of the year for us since we moved here five years ago. Thank you for that, Ted and Sally, and for your love of Chi Omega and your generosity. I am so sorry to miss her service but Bill and I will make a contribution as you suggested. May God bless you and your family always.

Dear Teddy,

We were all together in our youth, growing with friendship and shared experiences, and we are all with you now. God bless you and your family with many happy memories of Sally.
