Carolyn and Vincent, I am so sorry to hear about Sammy. I think about you and your family often. I remember Mary Ann, my dear friend so often and just how much your family meant to me. Sammy was just a baby and you and Carolyn (Tutti) were her little brother and sister when Mary Ann and I became friends, sisters and classmates at Incarnate Word Academ. Your Mother was like a second Mother to me and I will always cherish her, your Dad, you and Carolyn and little Sammy. I am so sorry for your loss and wish I could have been there tonight to hug you and tell you just how sorry I am for your loss and I want you to know just how much your family meant to me growing up. George and I are both not able to go very much anymore so this is why we couldn't come tonight. Again, so sorry and please tell Sammy's family just how sorry we are. We didn't know Sammy later in life but he was an Alfano and you don't get much better than that. I know he was a great son, brother, father and grandfather, just like his brother and sister. Love you both very much.

I remember playing with Sammy in Lamar High School's Jazz Band. Ed Trongone taught, mentored, and conductedas he led us to First Place in Jazz Band Competition in Denton, OK. That was 55 years ago. Having lost touch with Sammy after high school, I am deeply touched and saddened today to learn of his passing. Godspeed Family Alfano.

Dearest Sammy,

You leave a legacy of a life lived to its fullest! You were passionate about everything you did. Through the good, the challenging and super-challenging you truly cared for those whom were a close part of your life. Even for those you didn't know, you gave your time and helped them - you used to love doing Meals on Wheels every Tuesday! You bonded with all to whom you delivered. You loved Christmas and a tree full of lights! We had many years together and I am grateful for that. You loved your kids and grandkids with all your being, and that's how much they love you back. Rest In Peace and know that you will always be in our hearts.

Love,
Gabriela and Francesca

Where to begin...you were an amazing dad who gave me such unconditional love!! Your heart was as big as this whole world! You fought so hard for a whole year and fought hard until the end and never gave up!! Your strength is something that will keep me going and get me through this! I know you are looking down not wanting me to be sad and devastated, well that's not going to happen! You will forever be in my heart and gosh how I miss your phone calls and how we would go on and on about yummy food and your funny stories!!! You taught me to show love through cooking and I will continue to pass that on to my kids. I love you forever and always, Dad!! ~Paige
