Sammy Cook

1952 - 2023

Sammy Cook, age 71, of Lakeland, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.

Samuel Ross Cook was born August 30, 1952 and went to heaven on December 19, 2023 in the afternoon at Methodist Germantown Hospital.

Third son of Jesse and Bethal Cook. Sammy was blessed to grow up with a mama and daddy that took him to church as many times as the church door was open. Sammy was the son of a Deacon. They were always going to church, so at an early age he learned about God and Jesus, and was told many Bible stories.

In school he was always the good guy that everybody liked and a friend to everyone. He began to question his faith and did a total opposite from the way he was raise, but it only took him a few years to know that was not the life style he wanted, so he rededicated his life to Christ.

He met Debbie again, she was a short high school romance. Debbie and Sammy married in 1980 and they loved each to the moon and back for 43 years.
During this time he worked in the furniture business most of his life and was an excellent salesman.
During this time he was raising Bryan with Debbie and he took his job as a father and husband seriously. It was with much joy that he loved time with family and always the holidays. When Debbie couldn't go on he was there helping her get through cancer treatment. Always a loving father and husband.

Sammy is preceded in death: His father Jesse Cook, mother Bethel Cook and brother Ronnie Cook

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Debbie Cook, his son Bryan Shackelford (Vicky), granddaughter Faith Cooper (Zach Lawrence fiance), brother Mike Cook (Mona), brother-in-law Mike Roger's and nephews Michael and Zachary Rogers.

Family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Thursday, January 4 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN. Services will follow at 2:00pm.
