HAMILTON, Ga. - Sandra Kay Yates, 83, of Hamilton, Ga., passed away Monday (Jan. 15, 2024) at home.
Sandra was born in Georgetown on July 14, 1940, to the late Blanche and Leon Brown, who preceded her in death, as did her sister, Gloria Chessman, and brother, Leon Brown Jr., leaving Richard Brown as her only surviving sibling.
Sandra is also survived by her six children, Wilbur Lee (Jonie) Moody, Tim Moody, Elaine Moody Wells, Nancy L. Moody Marlatt, Marcia K. (Sarah) Koester Moody and Sandee K. (Kevin) Jones; 25 grandkids; 35 great-grandkids; her family friend, Alan Cross; and special cat, Squirrel.
Sandy, as she was affectionately known, worked at Bohn-Heatcraft in Danville for 38 years until her retirement. She also worked as a hostess at the Elks Club in Danville. She enjoyed gardening and watching sports, as well as adventures with her kids and grandkids.
A family hosted celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Harris County Humane Society in memory of Sandra Kay Yates.
