Sarah L. Toomey

YORK Sarah Lavinia "Beany" Toomey, 91, of York Township, died at 11:20 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2015, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Robert N. Toomey, to whom she was married for 68 years. She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert N. Toomey, Jr. Born June 22, 1924, in Alexandria, Va., she was the youngest of eight children of the late Walter and Rosa Ola (Cosby) Pulley. She was a 1941 graduate of Mount Vernon High School, and was offered a scholarship into Shenandoah Conservatory of Music upon graduation. She worked at Fort Belvoir Station Hospital in the medical office during WWII, where she met her husband. She enjoyed her family, genealogy, needlework, and the piano. She was a member of the Young Women's Club of York. Mrs. Toomey is survived by two sons, Greg R. Toomey and his companion, Ann Anstadt, and Eric M. Toomey and his wife, Deb, a daughter, Ellen T. Campbell and her husband, Dan, and a daughter-in-law, Sandra K. Toomey, all of York; three grandchildren, Lisa Toomey Breckenridge of Wyckoff, N.J., Robert N. Toomey, III of Hanover, and Hunter Virginia Campbell of New York, N.Y.; three great-grandchildren; her dear friend, Quenell Sease; as well as her loving and compassionate caregivers for the last 20 months, Dee Bosch, Jaya Sajesh, and Dolma Tenpa. The family could not have done it without you and we will be forever grateful. Private graveside services will be at Mount Rose Cemetery with The Rev. Stanley Reep officiating.
