Delores Marilyn Schnell, a longtime resident of Pasadena, left this life to be with her Lord on August 24 at Paramount Healthcare Center. Born in Epping, North Dakota to John and Olga Lokken on May 17, 1933, the youngest of four children, Delores had two brothers and one sister. Delores graduated from Interstate Business College in Fargo, North Dakota where she met and married Kenneth Schnell. She worked for several years as a legal secretary. Ken enlisted in the Navy in 1953 and they lived in San Diego and San Francisco, California, Bismarck, North Dakota, Ames, Iowa, Overland Park, Kansas and in 1964 to Easy Street in Pasadena, Texas, where Delores found the place she wanted to be the rest of her life. After spending several years being a mother, Delores brushed up her skills at San Jacinto College and worked as a secretary for Pasadena ISD until she retired in 1995. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Kenneth of Clear Lake, daughter Kari and Thomas Oquinn, son Kevin, and son Dr. Kent Schnell and Tammy all of Houston, granddaughter Carisa and Kasey Zientek of San Antonio, grandson Aaron and Brittney Schnell of North Carolina, granddaughters, Ashtin Schnell and Ana Schnell four great-grandchildren, sister Jeannine and Bob Scott of California, brother Dennis and Ann Lokken and sister-in-law, Avis Lokken of North Dakota. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Leroy Lokken. Visitation will be held at Grand View Funeral Home on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with funeral and burial following at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of usual remembrances, donations in memory of Delores may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, NY 10001; or any charity of your choice. Delores was a wonderful sorority sister. She always had that beautiful sweet spirit and smile. I will always remember her with great fondness.
Delores was someone everyone could always count on. She never met a stranger and always made you feel you were the most important person in the world and her life. I will miss her very much.
