SPYROS PAPACHRISTOS

SPYROS C. PAPACHRISTOS (Age 86)  
Passed away on March 17, 2015. Spyros was born in Katafygio, Greece on May 29, 1928. He is the eldest child of Savoula and Christos Papachristos. At the age of 18, Spyros immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island on May 31, 1946. He joined his father, already in Norfolk, VA. An excellent student, Spyros went on to earn degrees in Economics from The College of William and Mary and his MBA from the University of Virginia. Settling in the DC area, he spent the majority of his working years at the US Postal Service headquarters, retiring there in the 1990's. He met his wife, Ritsa while on vacation in Greece in 1973. They married on September 28, 1973 in Athens, Greece and began their life together in Arlington, VA. Spyros enjoyed his family, entertaining friends under the grapevine and many, many great meals from his loving wife, Ritsa. Upon retiring, Spyros and Ritsa were blessed with over a dozen summers on their property in Sani, Greece and in the sparkling waters nearby. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ritsa, and their children Elisa Judy (Brian) of Monterey, CA, Alexandra Kepler (Dan) of Athens, Greece and Chris Papachristos (Valerie) of Alexandria, VA, his grandchildren Katherine, James, Jack and Nathan Judy and Eleni and Zara Kepler, many relatives and friends worldwide.A memorial dinner took place at Maggiano's in Springfield Mall with family and friends on March 20, 2015. A private burial will take place later this summer in Greece. The family would like to thank the many friends who supported Ritsa as she cared for Spyros during his last months at home.
