Stephen Wood Obituary

Greg passed away on February 22, 2018 at the age of 65. He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen S. Wood. Devoted father of Ashley W. Fournerat (husband Brennan) and Stephen J. Wood (wife Nicky). Caring grandfather of Juliette, Brennan II and Caroline Fournerat, Benny Marie and Duke Gregory Wood. Brother of Stephanie, Mary Beth and Robert. Son of Margaret W. Ransone and the late David J. Wood. Greg enjoyed spending his time outdoors, whether that be a day on the boat or a day in the hunting blind. His true enjoyment came from the company he shared on those trips. Greg loved soaking up the sun at the beach on the gulf coast and his many times cruising the waters. Most of all his favorite past time was being a Poppi and Pop Pop, his grandchildren were the light of his life. Greg was always a loving family man and he will be greatly missed by all of those who knew him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM until service time. A private interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery. Please consider making donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, TN. in memory of Greg. To view and sign the family guestbook, please visit www.lakelawnmetairie.com .

I think about the big easy (Greg) often, our last conversation (texting) about the missed tackle that cost the
Saints going to the NFC championship game. His passing coming several weeks later and a shock as he never let on, he told me not to be so hard on that player, he feels worse than anyone, he's young and should be given another chance, that was Greg, We shared a love of the Saints. Our loss is heavens gain

Dear Kathy and family
My name is Jo-Anne Griffin, and I was Greg's client service associate at CarData Consultants. I was profoundly sad to learn of Greg's passing. Although Greg and I never met, I have spoken to both Greg and Kathy many times on the phone, and doing so always made my day. Greg's voice exuded kindness, and the love and respect he felt for Kathy was always evident in our conversations. Please accept my sincere condolences, and know that you are in my thoughts.
Most sincerely,
Jo-Anne Griffin

"Those we love don't go away, They walk beside us every day, Unseen, unheard but always near, Still loved, still missed and very dear." I am so grateful for my time with Greg last year, we reminisced about our time together, when the cousins spent summer days at Grandma McCarthy's in Waveland. Good times at the beach, he was full of fun and was as easygoing then as he was when we reconnected last year. I remember waving so long and see you when you finally take that road trip to Lake Tahoe. Stephen and Ashley we didn't meet you but your dad spoke lovingly about you and your kids, Kathy and dear Aunt Margaret we are so very sorry for your loss!

Greg was such a big, sweet man who seemed to have a smile eternally on his face. I already missed seeing him when you all moved, but now I'll never see him smile again. I am so sorry, Kathy, for your loss. He was a terrific fellow.
