DICKERMAN, Stuart Carlton II
Stuart Carlton Dickerman II, age 60, of Lyme, passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, (April 26, 2012). Beloved husband of Frances (Miller) Dickerman. He was born in Yonkers NY, on January 19, 1952, and grew up in Chappaqua, NY, son of the late Stuart Carlton and Anne Louise (Fletcher) Dickerman. He graduated from SUNY University in Albany, NY. Stuart was a man of compassion, yet had a real zest for life. His generosity of spirit was well known throughout the community, where he had the rare gift of bringing success to everyone he met. A Renaissance Man in every sense of the word, he was an innovative musician at the keyboard, a fine furniture craftsman, and an enthusiastic aviator, who logged hundreds of hours in single engine planes. He was a brilliant (techie) before the word was coined, who also filled the role of outdoorsman, tending his lakeview property with loving care. Stuart had a deep appreciation for the mystical realm yet, he was grounded in the reality of long term membership in Alcoholics Anonymous- as friends of Bill W. He was a man of simple truths, always open to different ways of thinking. Stuart leaves behind his best friend and beloved wife of sixteen years, Frances Joanne Dickerman. He lived life to the fullest and died by her side.
Calling hours for Stuart will be scheduled at a later date. Swan Funeral Home, 1124 Boston Post Rd. Old Saybrook has charge of the arrangements. Please visit www.swanfuneralhomeoldsaybrook.com to leave an online tribute or condolence.

I remember being in Coffee Works and these words shouted across the room reminded me of "it's a wonderlife"
It was Stuart,
" hey you...Your money's no good in this town " and he bought me a coffee. That was the kind of man he was. A giver. A caring man. A kind man. Always seemed so upbeat. So many conversations at the mailbox. So much wisdom.
I was his mailman and friend.
I promise to keep an eye on Fran. She is the best.
Till we meet again.

Dear Fran,
Tim and I were overwhelmed with sadness of your beloved Stuart's passing when we found out earlier this year. We recalled all of the good times we had over the years. The laughs and funny talk that we used to do together. We are so thankful that my father introduced all of us! It was NOURISHMENT for the souls. Please be blessed at this time and at all times.

Dear Fran, it broke my heart to talk with you today. I am so sorry for your loss. Stuart was a great guy and I loved talking with him at the end of the driveway,at the house or just around town. Please take comfort in knowing you are not alone. You have friends and family who care deeply about you. Stuart had a lot of wisdom and he shared freely with me. He was an easy man to talk to, and gave solid advice to me when I needed it the most. I'm sure he is with God and watching over you. Take care, Rob Whitney (postman)

Fran,
"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal." ~From a headstone in Ireland
Stuart's absence will be felt by many, including myself. Too many youthful memories have been flooding back for me in the last few days. He lived a life and experienced so much. Have joy in the memories that you two shared. I am thinking of you in your time of sorrow.
Love,
Peg
