Suzanne Hamilton-Norton Obituary

HAMILTON-NORTON, Suzanne, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born October 10, 1948, in Wheeling, W.Va., daughter of the late Paul and Eleanor Hamilton. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by an infant brother; and her brother, Jeff. Suzanne is survived by her son, Justin Cornel Norton; her brother, Gary and his wife, Mary Hamilton, of Wheeling, W.Va.; her three sisters, Paula Teufel of Wheeling, W.Va., Terri and her husband, John Fazio, of Washington, W.Va. and Heidi Hamilton of Wheeling, W.Va.; her sister-in-law, Karen Hamilton; her many cousins and her numerous nieces and nephews. Additionally, she is survived by her chosen family and dearest friends, Sue and Mike Lawrence and Sergio Sr., Sergio Jr., Maurico and Arturo Cornado. The family will receive friends at Woody Funeral Home - Parham in Richmond, Va., on Tuesday, March 8 at 5 p.m.

After receiving her master's degree in Exceptional Education from the University of Nebraska, Suzanne taught in Omaha, Neb., Wheeling, W.Va. and in Richmond, Va., where she taught at Mills E. Godwin High School for 28 years. She served as Department Chair of the Exceptional Education Department for 15 years and during her tenure, she was a beloved teacher and colleague. She taught, loved and encouraged thousands of students in her career as a teacher. Her many passions inspired her life, her teaching and her friends and family.

To Suzanne's Family,
I taught with Suzanne at Godwin and found her to be such warm, compassionate and vibrant person. It is difficult to believe she is gone. She had many friends and will be missed by many.
