I first met Teresa in August 2007 during her senior year in nursing school here at Wichita State University. She was in my Maternal Newborn Nursing class and later we came to know each other as professionals as she cared for labor patients--first for five years at VIA St. Jo and then for the past six months at Wesley.
The things I will always remember about Teresa were her commitment to excellence in family-centered care and her love of teaching. Because she cared so deeply about her patients, she naturally wanted to ensure they received quality care that was individualized to meet each family's needs. And because she was a life-longer learner herself, she recognized the importance of role-modeling care excellence to the many students who she worked with--many of whom later became OB nurses themselves. Teresa exemplified the very best of nursing leadership at the bedside.
Faculty here at Wichita State University School of Nursing will miss Teresa's smile and contributions as a nurse and are hopeful that her family and friends will take comfort knowing that her spirit lives on in the lives of the many mothers, fathers and newborns for whom she so skillfully and lovingly provided nursing care.

Not sure what's right or wrong to say on here so I will just say what's in my heart. Although our friendship was short lived, I have to say I had the most respect for you. I was speechless to hear Heaven has gained another angel. You were there for me 3 years ago when I lost my twins. You were an amazing person. I can see you are dancing w my twins and your daughter up in heaven. Please look after all of us so we can be a great nurse like you were.

I heard of Teresa's passing at mass Saturday night and was so sad for all of you. I have not seen Teresa for years but she was always a happy fun person. Teresa always had a way of making people laugh, smile, and happy. She will forever be missed. I worked with Teresa in 2005-2008 in Labor and Delivery. I also helped with the delivery of one of her children. May GOD bring Teresa and her family peace and comfort. Rest in peace Teresa Willis...you are one of a kind.
