TERRY DOUGLAS FORTIER

Born Feb 11, 1939 in Alameda, CA Died Jan 12, 2003 in Fresno, CA Terry Fortier was called home on Sunday, January 12, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Fortier; mother Mary Etta Fortier, children; Russell Fortier, Julia Wilhelm, Paul Calleja, Tessa Janian and Peter Fortier; grandchildren, Russell Fortier III, Katie Wilhelm, James Selsor, Kaycee Calleja, and Elizabeth Fortier; great-grandchild, Dylan Wilhelm. He is also survived by his siblings, Mary Kay Davis, Shirley Fortier Greene, Roger Fortier, Kathy Fortier Rodriguez, Tim Fortier and Paul Fortier. He is preceded in death by his father, Russell A. Fortier; and sister, Jean Fortier. There are innumerable nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues. He will be missed by us all. Terry was a very active member of community and state affairs. He founded and served as President of Commercial Transfer Incorporated since 1963. He earned his Juris Doctor from Humphrey's School of Law where he taught a course in ethics. He served as President of the California Trucking Association in 1983, and served as Board Member for 23 years. He served on the Fresno Fair Board for four years and the Fresno Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for six years. Terry served on the Channel 18 Business Advisory Council. He served as Board President for the FX Singleton Emergency Food Program for three years. From 1997 to 1999 he served as President of the Fresno Convention and Visitor's Bureau and served as a Board Member for 15 years. For six years he proudly served on the Board of Governors of the University of San Francisco Alumni Association. He most recently served on the Board of Governors for Farmers Insurance Truck Insurance Exchange, Saint Anthony's Bread Basket, Fresno County Transportation Authority and was sitting Chairman of the Board for Hayes Antique Truck Museum in Woodland, CA. Viewing will be held at Whitehurst Chapel, on Friday, January 17, 2003, from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at Whitehurst Chapel on Friday, January 17, 2003, at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church, 855 East Floradora, corner of Wishon and Floradora in Fresno, on Saturday, January 18, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. Internment will immediately follow at Saint Peter's Cemetery. A Celebration of Terry's Life will be held at the Edison Social Club at 3325 W. Clinton Avenue. I was so terribly sorry to hear of Terry's death. His brother informed me at work (Home Depot) but it was too late to attend services. Having lost my husband John seven years ago I know the pain you feel. Please know I am thinking of you and your family.
