I was very saddened to learn of Tom's passing today while I was searching for him online. Tom supervised me nearly 30 years ago when I was an assistant professor at UCF on my way to being a licensed psychologist. He also afforded me an opportunity to train staff at Orlando Regional Medical Center. I found him warm, empathic and clinically astute. I am forever grateful for the positive influence he had on my career. I did not know his family well although I remember his children when they were young. I hope positive memories of Tom continue to provide his loved ones some comfort. My condolences.

I chatted with the office manager today and was shocked to hear of his passing. Dr. Guest wasn't just a therapist who helped me get through difficult times. He was a friend and a compassionate soul who never judged me harshly for the mistakes I made. That compassion helped me get through those times and find a better place. Rest in peace, my dear friend.

To the Family of Tom Guest, my dear friend and colleague: What can I possibly say that hasn't already been said about one of the nicest, most compassionate, honest, kind men that ever lived? Tom was one of those rare individuals about whom not one negative word can be spoken. His word was impeccable. He was extraordinarily kind. He was always positive, always encouraging, always the consummate Southern gentleman. I was blessed to know him four an a half years. We worked together at Orange County Courthouse as mediators and parenting coordinators for high conflict families. When I returned from Christmas vacation, here lay a precious card from Tom with a special hand-written note, wishing me great happiness in this new year. Those were his last words to me. The world has not been the same since January 4, 2011 when he died. The sun doesn't shine quite so brightly. The stars seem a bit dull. Other people's laughter sounds so fake compared to Tom's. The most important contribution one can make in this world is to help somebody through a tough time. It is then that we are angels on this earth, to minister to the hurting, the lost, the ones who have lost all hope. Tom Guest helped thousands. Transformed lives and families. Was an angel on this earth. God's special messenger, His instrument of peace. Tom is forever.

TOMMY WAS SUCH A DELIGHT TO BE AROUND. HE MADE EVERYONE SMILE OR EVEN LAUGHT. I REMEMBER, AT OUR HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAMES, HE WOULD BRING A QUILT THAT HIS MOM HAD MADE. I BET 20 PEOPLE GOT UNDER THE QUILT, WE SAT IN COLD WEATHER AND YELLED FOR OUR TEAM AND LAUGHTED AND CUT UP, THOSE WERE REALLY GOOD TIMES. TOMMY WOULD LISTEN TO EVERY ONE BEFORE HE BECAME A DOCTOR. HE WAS A REMARKABLE PERSON, AND I KNOW HEAVEN IS SMILING NOW.

I have known Tom since grammar school and have always admired and respected him as a friend and mentor. I have many fond memories of Tom's patience with his younger brother and me when we would do or say something dumb. He was there to provide advice and counselling us as we approached different stages in our life. When his brother, Danny and I went to Auburn as unexperienced freshmen, he unselfishly welcomed us into his circle of friends. Even though I was not able to see him as much as I would have liked in recent years, I have always considered him as a trusted friend and I will miss him very much. My prayer is that his family will take comfort in the fact that he was loved and respected by all who knew him.

I have known Tommy since the 10th grade at Etowah High School in Attalla, Alabama. We were
college roommates for more than three years. He was always the best at everything, especially
at being a great friend. I am so impressed but not surprised by the statements of love and caring
given by those who knew and loved him and his family. I will always remember his joyful expressions and
how he loved everyone he met as well how much he influenced me by his example.
