Timothy Allen Sells of Columbus, Ohio entered this world on September 26, 1949 and following a long illness departed for his forever home on August 18, 2023.

Tim loved his God and was a member of Vineyard Columbus. He was an avid reader, fitness enthusiast, fisherman, and New York Yankees fan. In 2009 he retired from ODJFS where he worked for many years as a Disabled Veteran Outreach Specialist.  Tim was a graduate of Dublin High School and the Ohio State University.  He served in the US Army. In his younger years he was a volunteer with the International YMCA in Bogota, Columbia where he made lifetime friends and perfected his Spanish. After retirement he volunteered as an ESL teacher at the Vineyard Community Center and as a tutor at the Worthington Library Homework Help Center. Tim enjoyed writing and is the author of the book “When Dublin Wasn’t Doublin’”.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Darline Sells, and brothers, Pat and Mike.  He is survived by his wife Debbie; son Ryan; daughter Libby (Matt) Barlow; granddaughter, Emma Barlow; and brother Kelly (Jonna) Sells.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Darby Glenn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Riverside Methodist Hospital BICU, and Kobacker House for their care of Tim during his final days and to the many family and friends who have provided so much support during this long journey.

A memorial service for Tim will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 at Vineyard Columbus, 6000 Cooper Rd., Westerville, OH 43081. Parking will be in the north lot by the chapel entrance. Family will receive visitors at 2:00 pm followed by a service at 3:00. An hors d’oeuvre and dessert reception will follow the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that Tim’s wishes be honored in making donations to the Military Veterans Resource Center 3085 Scioto Darby Executive Ct., Hilliard, OH 43026. Donations will be directed to the Veterans’ food bank.

“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:17-18
