I had the pleasure of having Tino as my counselor when he worked at Tranquillity High. I was shocked when I saw his picture in the obituaries section. He was truly a great human being, advisor, & mentor. My condolences go out his whole family.
May God Bless You All!

I had the honor of working with Tino at Sunnyside High School when I was assigned to the Yale Office. He was my mentor and friend. I never knew a student who did not respect and like him. He was fair and kind to all. If you needed a pat on the back, he was there. If you needed to be encouraged, he was there. If you needed a kick in the butt, he was there. He always encouraged students to better themselves and to work through adversity. He had a gift of delivering guidance with a fathers love. I was always impressed at how calmly he handled tense situations. I still remember a young lady who had issues with most of her teachers. She responded to Tino's encouragement and even though she still had many pitfalls. She had to leave Sunnyside due to discipline issues but did return when she graduated to let Tino know that she made it because of him. He truly did the work of a shepherd on earth and I know his work will continue in heaven. I truly am a better man for knowing him. My condolences to all of his family.
Sincerely,
Pete Pulos

Dear Gail and the Lopez and Huerta families - We are so terribly sorry to hear of Tino's passing. We have known Gail and Tino for years. We see Tino often at our neighborhood Starbucks and have always enjoyed hearing the updates on all the wonderful things in his life: his retirement, the trips he and Gail took, the birth of their newest granddaughter. He is a wonderful sweet man, a devoted husband, and a loving father. We will miss him very much and his family is in our thoughts. With love from Davor and Dawn Golik

Although I only knew Tino for a short while, he was truly a kind and compassionate person. I was assigned to work at Cesear Chavez last year and I frequently relied on Tino for advice on the daily operations of my new surroundings. He was always kind and patient and immediately made me feel part of the team. I will always remember that.
Please accept my deepest comdolences to his loved ones.
Sincerely,
Gloria Thomas

Tino was my high school counselor at Tranquillity in 1981. After graduation, my plan was to be a farm laborer. Tino felt I had too much going for me to follow my father and mother's path, so he persisted in enrolling me at Fresno City College. He even went as far as going to my parents home in Mendota and filling out every painstaking sheet of enrollment forms, financial aid and grants! I have a great career thanks to Tino, and over the last few years I truly wanted to thank him for being the sole reason I became a college graduate many years ago. Over the course of the years, I have asked people if they knew where to find him. Recently, I was informed by a principal at Roosevelt that Tino worked for FUSD. As recent as 3 weeks ago, I inquired about his whereabouts but to no avail. It is only now that I read about his passing and it truly breaks my heart that I did not have opportunity to thank him for his contribution into the life of a migrant farmworker that made it out of Mendota and in to the professional world. I would like to thank his family for lending him to Tranquility for those few years where he made a tremendous impact to not only me, but to us kids who had very little direction from our home lives.
It is with great pleasure that I express to his family that we, the class of '81, have become professional Land Use Planners, Attorney's, Governmental Managers, Graphic Artists, Architects, and so many other professionals from a class size of 77! Once again, my condolences to the Lopez family, and to those of us fortunate enough to be guided by his incredible commitment to the youth in our communities.
Sincerely,
Orlando Ramirez
