Trinidad H. Mendez, Sr.
October 8, 1921 - December 15, 2011
Resident of San Jose
Trinidad Hernandez Mendez, Sr. passed away on December 15, 2011. He was born on Oct. 8, 1921 in Rocksprings, Texas. Trinidad is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Theresa, his children, John and Margie Honeycutt of Oak Grove, CA., Lucy Almaguer of San Jose, CA., Trinidad and Gloria Mendez, Jr. of San Antonio, TX., Rick and Mary Mendez of Madera, CA, Sophia Mejia of San Jose, CA., Ysidro and Renee Mendez of San Jose, CA. He also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sisters, his son Robert Mendez, His grandson Mathew Mendez and son in law Juan Almaguer. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Trinidad was the son of Ysidro and Estefana Mendez who were from Mexico. Trinidad was the 5th of 7 children, of which he was the last survivor. Trinidad left Rocksprings, Texas in 1953 to California with 14 people in his car, nine of which were small children. He and his family lived in Sacramento for a short time and returned to Texas in 1955, later that year, he and his family returned to California where they settled in San Jose. He worked at Ford Motor Company for 28 years, working on the assembly line and as a final inspection technician. He was a UAW union member. He was an avid sports enthusiast, and diehard fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Dodgers. He enjoyed watching all teams and all sports. He will be solely missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Services will be held at Oak Hill Funeral Home. Viewing will be Dec. 22, 2011 from 9:00am - 4:00pm in room E. Rosary and tributes will be from 6:00pm - 9:00pm in the Chapel of Oaks. Funeral services will be held on Dec. 23, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Oaks.

Grandpa you will be truly missed! I'm glad your not suffering anymore and that your in heaven with my dad (Robert) and other loved ones say hello to him. My heart and prayers go to our entire Mendez family. One famous line my grandpa would always say "Where ya headed" I'll never forget you .. I love you Grandpa! :)
