Vidal L. Garcia, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2014 in Riverside, CA. He was 90 years old.
A Mass Service is planned for April 24th at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church, 3680 Arlington Ave., Riverside, CA 92506 at 12:00 p.m., following burial services at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92518, Staging Area #4 at 1:45pm.
Vidal L. Garcia was born in El Centro, CA, on March 28, 1924. Mr. Garcia was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather - "Tata". From the family: No words can express our sincere gratitude for all the wonderful memories you left us with. You were truly a renaissance man: your humor, faith in God, patriotism for this country and the United State Marine Corps, and imagination for making things simple and interesting. You danced to your own style and always on the beat. Dad, your life was filled with much happiness. You grew up in the toughest of time to a poor migrant family, but you accepted your role and for nine decades you multiplied your talents with your family, work, social life and church. We salute you as our hero, as our father, as our Tata, and are honored to carry strong the Garcia name and a piece of you in our hearts. "Well done, thou good and faithful servant thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." Matthew 25:21.
Vidal L. Garcia is survived by his wife of 67 years, Amalia Garcia, daughter, Maria De Jesus Weisser, son, Manuel Gerardo Garcia, daughter, Norma Gelinas, son, Vidal Garcia, Jr., son, John Elijah Garcia, daughter, Rosa Amelia Garcia, son, Mike Garcia, daughter, Grace Rae Gutierrez, daughter, Anna Christina Hernandez, 17 grandchildren, 22 great- grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren.

This gent was my Father inlaw and I loved him like a father. He was always good to me and he and I shared many good times and memories. SIR, as I called him left a lasting impression on me that will last my entire life as to how much a man can love his family to which he was deeply committed. He was a good man and I will miss him.

My Tata, my hero, my strength. This has been the most heartbreaking experience of my life. I can't close my eyes without hearing your voice, your laugh, or hearing your play the guitar. When I'm at my mom's I start to cry Tata because my mind starts to wonder and I start hearing you walking with your cane and dragging your feet the way you used to walk. My Tata I'm going crazy without you, I miss you every moment of each day. All I can do for comfort is close my eyes and relive all the wonderful memories I have with you. I remember as a little girl going to visit you and my nana and always running straight to the backyard as soon as we pulled in the driveway. You'd be sitting down on your homemade chair eating a whole-half of a “watermel” with a spoon and your shirt open because of the heat with the juice and seeds from the watermelon all over your stomach & your recorded music playing. I remember being so excited in elementary school on Fridays because I knew you and Nana would be coming to visit. I wouldn't wait for friends to walk home with because I'd run home from school, seeing the little red truck parked in front of the house was the best feeling in the world. From as far back as I could remember Tata you'd always try to talk to me and prepare me for what I considered my worst nightmare, you leaving us. This is so hard Tata but I know that you don't want us to be sad Tata; I know you want us to keep strong for my Nana and stay close as a family. Your biggest concern in life was always the well being of your family. The love you shared with all of us Tata is impeccable, there's not one person who can't share a story of you without laughing or smiling. You made such a huge impact on all of our lives and you leave such loving and happy memories with all of us. I give God so much thanks for placing you in my life. I will never let the memory of you go away, you will forever live in my heart and the heart of Amavi. Thank you for being my loving support and for your words of wisdom. You're alive in my heart Tata. Rest peacefully, I love you endlessly,” I LIPS”, and I'll see you one day.

When I recieved the news that my dearest friend Dolores lost her irreplaceable grandfather, I felt touched once again by the memories she shared through the years about him. Tata, I know you were a great man, you served your country as a U.S.Marine in WWII and raised 8 children. Everyone around town is sending there condolences. Everyone keeps reminding me of the great man you were. I'm proud to carry your name as do some of my cousins. At work on my uniform I make sure that your initial is always there.
