VIRGINIA B. EDWARDS, 90, passed away on Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Mineral Ridge, Ohio, Virginia was a homemaker. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, playing cards and tending to her flowers. "Virginia was a true people person and always met you with a smile." Surviving are her husband, William Edwards of Fort Wayne; and step-children, Carolyn Umbaugh of Marathon, Fla., Marilyn (Dan) Maloney of Butler, Ind. Kathy Girardot of Fort Wayne, and Dianne (Phil) Cole of Butler, Ind. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Rachel Kracium; stepson, Michael Edwards; brothers, Eugene and Cornelius Karcium; sisters, Sylvia Sohayda and Aurelia Sheller; and first husband, Howard F. Mayer. Service is 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, with calling one hour prior. Dr. Rex Person officiating. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to the S.P.C.A.
