Aspen Grove
They were young and old intermingled in the grove
Some bent by the weight of elements
Others show markings of the misdeeds of life
Strange how a group of trees could look so nice
There is calm in the woods, a hush to be found
Leaves fluttered all the way to the ground
Standing among the trees you saw
Some fallen and silently lay
While new shoots and twigs appeared close by
Following the footsteps of the trees leaving before
We all leave in time, some young and some old
A family like these trees has a story to be told
The Aspen have lived in nature this way
Each family bonded through roots they share
Their colors of fall show where they stand
Signaling out where the roots carry on

Things remembered on trips to Utah playing games with Aunt Wanita and Uncle Gordon when they came to Utah, such as Charades. Aunt Wanita took her card and promptly jumped in the air and landed flat on the floor, everyone panicked, she laughed as it was her card read "heart attack" dancing at Oktoberfest at Snowbird Ut. with all of us doing the Chicken Dance and she and Gordon the polka. Another trip included Yellowstone the waterfalls and offerings of the park. Then a stay at Henry's Lake, we had lots of fun with food, jokes, late nights on the front porch, fishing/boat ride and horse shoes.
The Doty yearly catch up at Xmas via cards and phone, Aunt Wanita laughed a lot and was wise in getting her points across, truly enjoyed time spent together. Bless of you girls for sharing her with us.

I have so many wonderful memories with '' Aunt Nita ''. My mom and her were first cousins. She had 3 girls and I happened to be born within a month of her middle child, Diane. Growing up, I spent many a weekend with them. I remember going to the Doty family reunions, She would take us to concerts, Red's game.. ps. Thank you Diane and Debbie for you always winning reds tix for good grades!... the list goes on...She and Gordon treated me like their own. Great memories of fun and laughter!! Thank you Wanita for always being there for me. Love Kim

So sad to see a member of the early days of the Monroe Volunteer Firefighters Association & Monroe Emergency Squad pass. I will miss your hugs, your great stories, and your surprise visits to the station. I know that you are now at peace and happily telling stories among long lost friends.
May God bless you, your family, and friends.
