WAYNE BARTELS Obituary

WAYNE MONROE BARTELS SR., 73, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, at St Joseph Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he work-ed as a tire repairman with Gas Way Oil Inc. for 11 years and prior to that at Phelps Dodge. He was a member of West Main Church of the Nazarene. He was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed working in his yard and travel. He was a Navy veteran and prior served in U.S.M.C. Reserves. He is survived by his sons, Samuel E. (Stacy) Bartels Sr. of High Point, N.C., Louie E. Bartels of Alburque, N.M., Carl A. Bartels and Wayne M. Bartels Jr., both of Fort Wayne; daughter, Annabel B. (Billy) Clark of Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl J. and Gertrude E. Bartels; daughter, Debra S. Dean; brothers, Harold, Ernie, and Jack Bartels; and sister, Betty Pogue. Service is 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with the Rev. Michael N. Kohl officiating. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at the funeral home. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
