William L. Bower, Sr. 89, of Temple, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of Bonnie (Keller) Bower. Born in Reading, PA, he was the son the late Lawrence T. and Zeda M. (McAteer) Bower. Bill graduated from Reading High School. He proudly served in the Army Air National Guard. Bill was a firefighter for 30 years for the Reading Fire Department, Engine 13, a professional printer since high school and a school bus driver. He enjoyed fishing, watching Penn State football games, NASCAR races and was an avid observer of the weather.


In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his two daughters, two sons, and three step-children. He also was a father figure to the many foster children he cared for over the span of 12 years, some whom he kept in close contact with throughout the years. His is also survived by all of his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his son and brother.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association, https://www.heart.org, the American Cancer Society, https://www.cancer.org/donate, or to the National Volunteer Fire Council, www.nvfc.org/donate. Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., has been entrusted with arrangements.
