William Carrier Obituary

William J. "Bill" Carrier, age 88, passed away on October 22, 2017. Beloved husband of the late Helen Carrier for 48 years. Bill is survived by his loving daughter, Pamela K. Bryant and Ludie C. Churchman. Bill was a proud United States Merchant Marine at the very young age of 15 and traveled around the world. He then drove steam engine trains for several years and finally retired after driving cross country trucks. Bill was an avid animal lover of many furry babies and a true historian of trains. He and Helen were also lucky to have traveled extensively due to their daughter, Pam's work with an airline. Bill and Helen moved from Martinez, California to Metairie, Louisiana in 2010 to be near their daughter, Pam, who loyally cared for each of them until their deaths. At this time, their Oaklawn Street neighbors became a second family to Bill and Helen. Bill also traded in his San Francisco 49ers loyalty card and became a true black and gold fan. We would like to extend our heartfelt and sincere gratitude to the truly compassionate and caring people at St. Anthony's Nursing Home and to Passages Hospice. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the SPCA at 1700 Mardi Gras Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70114 or Alzheimer's Association at 3445 N Causeway Blvd, Metairie, LA 70002.
