William Nolte Obituary

William R. Nolte
LEBANON
William R. Nolte died peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 16, 2015.
He was born on April 23, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Lora and Louis Nolte and made the decision to follow Jesus shortly after his mother's death in 1992 under the pastorate of the Rev. Steve Sabol. Bill took his final breath just as Rev. Mike Remel had finished praying for him.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn (nee Vogel); two sons, Steven and Christopher and their wives; six grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Linda Nolte and her son, Robert; and his best friend of 60 years, Rick Wepner of Cincinnati. He was preceded on death by his parents; his older brother, John; his mother-in-law, Catherine Vogel; and his four beloved dogs.
Bill and Marilyn met on May 17, 1982, on beautiful Sanibel Island, Fla. It was love at first sight and a "chance" meeting that they later realized was at the hand of God. They were married on November 7, 1982, and renewed their vows on their 25th wedding anniversary. Bill was a faithful, generous, loving husband who enjoyed spending time with his wife and dog. He cared for his mother and mother-in-law with great tenderness throughout the years and even more so as their needs became greater during their final years. Bill had a lengthy career working for I.B.M., working hard and progressing through the ranks in spite of not having completed his degree at Miami University (Ohio). After early retirement, Bill formed Nolte and Associates and continued to do computer consulting. After his second retirement, he worked a "fun job" for Jubilee Ministries, first driving a delivery truck as he had as a young man, and later repairing items donated for resale in the Jubilee Stores. His hope was that he could mentor and offer hope to the men working with him, many of whom were ex-offenders. Bill enjoyed vacations on Sanibel, working on cars, maintaining his home, walking his dog, Buddy, and feeding the squirrels, turkey,s and deer that came to the birdfeeder. Although Bill lived an active and healthy lifestyle, he was plagued by increasing health problems that defied diagnosis. Finally in December of 2014 he had a PECT CT scan that confirmed dementia. Bill was a gentle man with a big heart. He will be remembered for his beautiful smile, his devotion to his wife, and his child-like faith.
A viewing will be held on December 22 from 6 to 8 p.m.. in Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon 17042. A memorial service will be conducted on December 23 at 11 a.m. in the River of Life Church of God, 825 N. 7th St., Lebanon, PA 17046 with a viewing one hour prior to service. Officiating will be the Rev. Steve Sabol, the Rev. Thom Keller, the Rev. Marilyn Nolte, and the Rev. Michael Remel.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the River of Life Church of God.
