William Smith Obituary

William E. Smith
1935-2015
William E. Smith passed away on September 27, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born October 2, 1935 in Henderson, Texas, where his family owned Smith's Grocery. After graduating from The University of Texas in Austin, he married Connie Stevens. They were married in 1957 and began their life together in Houston where they raised their two daughters. They had 32 wonderful years together before Connie died in 1989. Bill married Mari Carmen Pueyo in 1991 and enjoyed another 24 years of happiness.
Bill had a successful career in retail. He had a great mind and vision for business. In 1974, he started My Workshop Picture Framing and later, The Shade Tree & Accessories. He was a natural salesman and truly enjoyed his work. He also enjoyed travel, playing golf, and woodworking. More than anything, Bill loved his family and friends. He was always there for us with his beautiful smile, caring heart and strong hug. We will miss him greatly and are truly blessed to have been loved by him.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Mari Carmen Smith; daughters, Cinthia Smith and Cissie Slaten (Rex); stepdaughters Monica Caldwell (Marc) and Stephanie Valentz; grandchildren Arron, Brittany, Bryce, Baylee, Connor, Cole and twins, Breckin and Brenna.
Friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, 11612 Memorial Drive Houston, Texas 77024, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Bill Smith.

Big loss for a great person. We all loved Bill in HHS during High School there. May God bless the family in their loss.
