Marjorie Gooch Collins Naples, FL

Marjorie Gooch Collins, 55, passed away on April 29, 2011, in Boston, MA, after a long battle with cancer. She was born on May 14, 1955, one of five children to Roland Elmore Gooch and Phyllis (Dreghorn) Gooch of Thornton, NH.

Marjorie grew up in Berkley, MA, where she graduated from DightonRehoboth High School in 1973. She studied Education and Speech and Language Pathology at Bridgewater State College, graduating in 1977. She worked as a Speech and Language Therapist from 1977 to 1992 in Dighton and Berkley school systems.

She married Dennis Edward Collins of Dighton, MA, in 1977 and they celebrated the birth of their daughter Hillary in 1981.

Marjorie enjoyed designing jewelry with her husband from 1984 until her death. Beginning in 2002, she and her husband, Dennis split their time between Berkley, MA and Naples, FL. M&D Fine Jewelry, now, Jewel of the Glades Fine Jewelry is sold at art shows and gift stores around the country. She won numerous art show awards for her designs and opened her own gift store, "Jewel of the Glades" in 2007.

She loved reading, writing, creating jewelry, and spending time with her family. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Marjorie also leaves many dear friends whom she adored in both Massachusetts and Florida.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis Edward Collins; daughter, Hillary Collins (and Nicholas) Rezendes of Port St. Lucie, FL; granddaughter, Emaline Marjorie Rezendes; two sisters, Janet Gooch (and Wayne) Lottmann of Barrington, NH, and Paula Gooch (and David) Atwood of Berkley, MA; brothers Ralph Roland (and Betsy) Gooch of Berkley, MA, William Dreghorn (and Susan) Gooch of Hamburg, PA; her parents Roland and Phyllis Gooch of Thornton, NH; her mother-in-law, Ann Patricia (Johnson) Collins, of North Dighton, MA; her brother-in-laws, John Richard (and Leslie) Collins, of Grass Valley, CA, Thomas Robert Collins, of New Paltz, NY, and Brian Paul Collins, of North Dighton, MA; her sister-in-law, Nancy Ann Collins, of North Dighton, MA; along with many nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.

A summer celebration in Berkley, MA is planned.

Dennis, we have just found out about Marj's passing. We can't tell you how deeply saddened we are but will hold on dearly to the memories the two of you gave us with your vivacious love for dancing to our music and coming to our gigs.
