Joe Dee Collins

Joe Dee Collins departed from his earthly life on January 18, 2026, at the age of 72 after fulfilling a life of faith, love, and service to his family, friends, and community. He proudly served and enjoyed as a Sergeant for L&R Security Department for 43 years. Joe Dee was born on September 10, 1953, in Monroe Louisiana to the late Laurinda Collins and Lee Collins, he is one of fourteen children. Joe Dee accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member of Second Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. He was also a choir member for many years. He loved serving food to the homeless people in the community. He enjoyed going to Bingo and playing cards was one of his favorites. Joe Dee was loved by all who knew him. He leaves to cherish memories, his sister Dorothy Bryant (Barry), and brother Nathaniel Collins. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, friends, and all who knew and loved him. Preceded in death by his parents, Laurinda and Lee Collins; two sisters, Ettis May and Odessa Gray, five brothers: Lee, Otis, Alexander, Leonard and Albert. Take your rest in God, well done. Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, February 7, 2026, for 10:00 a.m. at Second Morning Star Baptist Church, 2616 St. Andrew Street, New Orleans, LA 70113. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Pastor Winston B. Ricks, officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park, 10400 Old Gentilly Rd, New Orleans, LA 70127.
