Skyler Combs Obituary

MARION HEIGHTS — Skyler Matthew Combs, 21, of 129 E. Melrose St., passed away Monday, April 20, 2015.

Born at Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, Oct. 14, 1993, he was a son of Roger David and Sandra Lee (Valdez) Combs, of Marion Heights.

In 1999, he moved to the area, previously residing in New Castle, Del. He was a 2012 graduate of Mount Carmel Area Jr./Sr. High School where he played football and soccer.

At the time of his death, he was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves with the Ashley command post where he was a chemical operations specialist. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.

He was a member of the Christian faith and attended Restoration Ministry Church in Shamokin.

He was an avid skateboarder, enjoyed music, especially Spanish music, and all kinds of dancing. He was a self-taught guitar player and enjoyed singing. Since a young age, he loved boxing.

In addition to his parents, Roger and Sandra, of Marion Heights, he is survived by two brothers, Johnathon Powers, of Mount Carmel, and Dylan Combs, at home; maternal great-grandmother and godmother, Guadalupe Gonzales, of Robstown, Texas; maternal grandparents, Benjamin and Maggie Guerrero, of Newark, Del., and Jesse and Linda Valdez, of Corpus Christi, Texas; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Neece, of Kulpmont; aunt Judy Kripplebauer and her husband, Joe, of Mount Carmel, and their children, Candence and Shawn; uncle Benjamin Guerrero and his wife, Cassandra, of New Castle, Del., and their children, Mandy, Aaron, Gabriella and Hannah; aunt Becky Irvin and her husband, Ramsey, of Austin, Texas, and their children, Ramsey Jr. and Tiree; uncle Jessie Valdez and his wife, Star, of Corpus Christi, Texas; as well as cousins and many special friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Paul Neece.

COMBS — Skyler Matthew Combs, 21, of 129 E. Melrose St., Marion Heights. Smile now, cry later services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home with the Rev. Daniel A. Langan officiating. Announcement of burial will be made at a later date. A viewing will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine St., Mount Carmel, C.J. Lucas IV, supervisor. In honor of Skyler, memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kan., 66675.
