Susan Jane Techlin

Spotsylvania - Susan Jane Techlin (Susie), of Spotsylvania, passed away on Thursday, March 8. Susie was born on October 17, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan. She attended high school at Central High School in Bay City, Michigan before attending Michigan State University ('68) where she earned a B.S. in Child Development. Upon graduation she worked as an elementary school teacher until deciding to stay home to raise her two boys, BJ and Geoff, in Grand Rapids, MI. While there, Susie went back to school and earned her M.B.A from Aquinas College in 1989. She then worked for Gerontology Network, a non-profit organization, in charge of fundraising for programs for the elderly. After moving to Virginia, she married her husband, David Techlin, in 2013 where they lived on Fawn Lake.

She was preceded in death by her father, O. Frank Storch, Jr.; mother, M. Faye Felter Storch; and brother, O. Frank Storch III.

Susie is survived by her husband, David Techlin; sons, Geoff (wife Meredith) and BJ (wife Amy); grandkids, Dylan, Katie, Davis, Truitt and Palmer; sister, Maricia Capps (Rish); and brother-in-law Ron Capps.

Susie loved spending time with friends and family, traveling, and Michigan State athletics. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She had a kind, giving heart that touched everyone who knew her.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 17 at The Presbyterian Church, 810 Princess Anne St., Fredericksburg, VA 22401.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Susie's name to the American Cancer Society.
