Miriam Prince Pinkerton passed away September 24, 2013 in Wilmington, NC. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Walter "Pink" Pinkerton. She was born in Raleigh and lived there until retiring happily to Oak Island, NC
As a profession she was an award winning floral designer. After her children were grown, she furthered her interest and talent becoming an award winning artist. Her art has appeared in exhibitions, galleries, public and private collections. She was awarded signature membership in the Southern Watercolor Society and the Watercolor Society of N.C.
She is survived by her daughters: Lynne P. Holliman of Cary, and Joyce P. Pettengill of Willow Springs; son: Randy Pinkerton and wife, Benita of Raleigh; grandchildren: Laura L Sharp, Richard Pettengill, Julie Pettengill, Angela Pettengill, Beth Pinkerton, and Sarah Pinkerton; 6 great grandchildren; and a sister: Carolyn P. Buffaloe.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 pm Friday, September 27, 2013 at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St. Apex.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at Macedonia UMC, 2700 Jones Franklin Rd. Cary, NC 27518. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Franklin Art Gallery, 130 E. West St., Southport, NC. 28461; or to Fine Arts League of Cary, PO Box 3361, Cary NC 28519-3361

Miriam was a special person with a special talent. She enjoyed her art and made it fun for others. I remember fondly Tuesdays in Southport where a group of us painted for several years. Go with God, Miriam.

At every showing of artist's work, I was always curious to see Miriam's entries. She received many art awards from a variety of judges. She shared her knowledge and love of art by conducting workshops in the community. She was always so cordial and a pleasure to be around. I am very saddened by her passing. My deepest sympathy to Miriam's family.

Hard to believe she's actually gone. No more threesome trips for Miriam, Carolyn, and me. She was a super aunt and I will miss her immensely. RIP Miriam. My deepest sympathy and love to my cousins Lynne, Joyce, and Randy and their families.
