Nancy Melson Obituary

Nancy Q. (Bounty) Melson
On March 24, 2021, Nancy Quackenbush Melson, beloved wife, mother of five children, passed away in San Diego. Born Adriana Suydam Quackenbush on December 2, 1930 in Darien, CT, she attended Darien schools, the Wood Business School in New York City and was a bookkeeper and worked in real estate.
She was married to Richard J. Bounty and they lived in Darien and Redding with their five children.
Several years after Richard's death, she married Bob Melson. Because of the late 1980s recession, they moved to Southern California to find employment and later retired there.
Nancy leaves 4 living children (Susan Bounty Oliver, Thomas Bounty (Meg), Scott Bounty (Corrine) and Elizabeth Bounty Mackenzie (Ken)), 8 living grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and several step-relatives. She was preceded in death by two brothers, her daughter Virginia Long (Roland), and a grandson. A memorial service and scattering in the Pacific will occur later. Donations to the Alzheimer's Association in lieu of flowers.

Nancy was a loving and caring mother, wife, grandmother and more. We remember spending countless times at the beach and at the dinner table enjoying her cooking. She was very fun to be with and always a joy. She loved genealogy and music. We will miss Nancy very much. We send our condolences to my father who lost the love of his life, but has a lifetime of awesome memories and to her family for they have lost an exceptional mom.
