Emily Opdyke Obituary

DOVER - Emily "Tiny" Ruth Opdyke passed away due to complications with cancer in her home on Dec. 8, 2018. She was born on Feb. 28, 1967 to Richard and Sally Anne Moore. On Nov. 11, 1989, she married Donald "Duga" James Opdyke, whom she spent 29 years of marriage with.
Tiny was a member of the Little Creek Fire Company for 18 years, as well as mentored children for the Capitol School District for eight years. She was dedicated to her work and helping others. Even while going through treatment for her cancer, she never let that get in the way of her giving to charity and servicing her local community.
She is survived by her husband and four dogs; her son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Raven Opdyke; her best friend, Christine Pierson; her brother, Richard "Skeeter" Moore; her aunt, Esther Wales; and her godchildren, Josey Wales and Olivia Opdyke. Also her extended family including the Attix, Daisy, Opdyke, Moore, and Mayhall families, as well as friends she has made within the Ladies Auxiliary, Tidewater Utilities, and Wyoming Concrete.
Services will be Friday, Dec. 14, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Trader Funeral Home in Dover and family and friends may call Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018 at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to go to Ronald McDonald House of Delaware, 1901 Rockland Road, Wilmington, DE 19803

I never met Emily but she was always a great help to me. I work in the parent company in Jersey. No matter what I needed she got me an answer. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time.

I will remember Emily by giving unconditionally and living by my heart. She will never know how much she was appreciated but hopefully she knew how much she was loved. Peace, Em.
