Dave and I met on the high school football squad, being a year older, he became a mentor, both on and off the field. Dave was just an incredible guy, always there to lift my ego. I often tell the story of a phone call I got from him while he was serving in the Air Force in Thailand and I was on duty in guard shack in Phu Bai, Vietnam. I can only imagine the hoops he jumped to put that call through, just to say hello. Dave always had a story, some news and warm smile. I remember Friday nights, after date snacks at Poppy’s Pizza and listening to philosophy of dealing with the issues of the day. Buddy Comstock

I will miss Dave’s robust laugh, impish grin, but mostly his friendship. If you needed a friend Dave was always there to help or listen. Dave you will be sorely missed by many but especially by me. God Bless Patty, Mary Alice and David may time soften your sorrow and may all your loving memories last forever.

Dearest Patty,Mary Alice and David, I am so very sad by the passing of My great friend and Brother, Your father Dave. I spent many a nights and years having great talks with Dave either at the Nook N Cranny , St Patricks day parades, Hibernians etc. Dave was one of the finest Catholic Gentlemen that I ever met. His spiritual belief helped change me for the better. Big Dave will always be in our family hearts forever. I am priveledged to have been a part of there wedding party and vica versa. Words alone cannot replace Daves (Moose) big smile or a hearty greeting that came right from his Irish Heart!MY tears now are a rejoicing for Dave that he is in pain no more. I am so very happy to have had the pleasure of talking to him only last week, and He was still very cheery even though he was in pain.I will forever miss him, but will always cherish him in my heart forever, Again my deepest and most sincerest sympathies to Patty and his children whom he loved and adored, God Bless them and God Rest in peace to a great person, Jim & Marilyn Gardner, Land O' Lakes Florida.

Reflecting on years spend on Van Buren Avenue brings back fond memories of Dave as he traveled down to the 900 Block. Back yard parties and water fights were part of our high school years. Many years later, when I cleaned out my childhood home I was so pleased to meet his daughter and have her select the desk/dressing table, that used to be mine to take home and enjoy.
May knowing that Dave touched many lives and left lasting memories bring a smile to your face.
Peace,
Deborah Doyle Hubbs
