I just received word today of Harriette's passing from one of her fellow Nia dance students. I am so sorry to get this sad news. Harriette was a delight to have as a student. She was smart, funny and a no nonsense kind of gal. I loved her very much and will miss her. My condolences to her family and friends. Please know I will create a special Nia class and we will dance in her memory. Caroline Kohles Nia Black Belt, and Education Trainer

Harriette and I were friends from college and stayed in touch these many years. She was an inspiration for her quick intelligence and wit and her devotion to her family and the causes she cared about. My sincere condolences to her family.

Harriette was a mentor, colleague and friend the years I worked in Rights at Bantam and Random House. I will miss sharing a love of Litchfield County with her, and I extend my deepest sympathy to her family and friends.

Harriette was my boss for 13 years and my friend for many more than that. After we both left Random House in 2002 we spoke on the phone every few months to share what was happening in our lives. I could always depend on Harriette for her sage wisdom and advice about everything from starting my own business to yoga classes I should take! I will miss her presence in my life but count myself blessed that she was my friend. My deepest sympathies to her Girls and Norman, of course, and to her treasured grandchildren.

What a remarkable woman and so modest about her accomplishments! She will be sorely missed by the Democrats in Connecticut's Northwest corner. I consider it an honor to have Harriette know me by name. I hope that the accolades for her and sympathy from so many will provide some comfort to the family during these very difficult days.
