David Boies Obituary

HAZLETON– David A. Boies, Sr., 62, of Hazleton, died Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Grandview HealthCare Center in Oelwein.
Dave was born Sept. 6, 1949, in Independence, Iowa the son of Roy L. and Anna E. (Hayden) Boies. He attended the Independence Community School and Hawkeye Tech in Waterloo. On Sept. 20, 1968 he married Kathy J. Sherrets in Independence. The family made their home in Independence, where Dave became employed with the Moose's Masonry, Schmidt's Masonry and the Water Department with the City of Independence. The couple moved to Hazleton in 2003. 
He is survived by his wife Kathy Boies of Hazleton; three children, David A. (Stephanie) Boies Jr., Independence, Rusty (Suelyn) Boies, Jesup, and Jennifer (Mark) Anderson, Oelwein; nine grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a sister Dorothy Smith of Independence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother LeRoy Boies, and four sisters, Virginia Butters,   Eileen Straw, Bernita Reyna, and Phyllis Frey.    
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, in the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, with the Rev. James Blair officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. until services Wednesday at the funeral home.

So sorry to hear the news. I remember having a lot of great times with David and Rusty. Dave Sr was always nice to me and will be missed. God bless him.
