George Malick Obituary
George was a World War II veteran flying blimps for the U.S. Navy, continuing his military career as a reservist until 1970, retiring as a Commander. His civilian career started at Goodyear, then as a developer in Florida, and finally returning to Ohio where he owned S & M Music Co. with his brothers. He also invested in real estate as a partner of Malick Investments. Besides his love of family, he had a passion for golf, tennis, and sports cars. George devoted the latter part of his life as caregiver to his true love, Rose until her passing.
George was also preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Zakia; his sisters, Madeline Maroon and Lillie Marie Khoury. He is survived by son, Rick (Pat) Malick of Flat Rock, N.C., daughter, Janet (Art) Scarpitti; and son, Gary (Mary Ann) Malick; grandchildren include, Rick Malick of Dallas, Texas, Keith (Pam) Malick, Kimberly (Rick) Thomas, Kevin (Jamie) Malick, Scott Scarpitti and Todd (Megan) Scarpitti of Shreveport, La.; great-grandchildren include, Rogan Malick; Connor, Kendall and Cole Thomas; Allison and Caleb Malick. He is also survived by his brothers, Ed (Lillie) Malick and Joe (Marilyn) Malick, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to give special thanks to Keith Malick for assisting in managing his grandfather's affairs and to St. Edward's Nursing Home for all their loving care.
Calling hours 5 to 8 Monday at Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd., Fairlawn. Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Hilary Catholic Church. Entombment at Rose Hill Cemetery where American Legion Post 473 and Copley VFW Post 7971 will conduct military services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the American Cancer Society & American Heart Association.
